The delay in this blog turning up online is because of the lack of network for TATA INDICOM at Thenmala. There had been a slight technical snag. We regret the inconvenience cause. :P

This day marks the beginning of the next leg of the journey. No more lovely beaches.  Its all hills from now on.  No more flat terrain. Its all uphill and downhill slopes.  We covered a total of 75 km today on cycle and about 40 km on bus. The 40 km on bus because I forgot to take my wallet from the house that we stayed at Thiruvananthapuram and had to take a bus to go and collect the purse. We left at 7 15 from Thiruvananthapuram and at 8 15 am, Joseph uncle with whom we were staying with last night called up to convey that I forgot to take my wallet. We had a quick chat on what to do and decided to go and recover the wallet. I checked with a an auto guy if he can go back all the way to the house ( at Vattiyoorkavu - TVM ). Non of the auto guys wanted to go in that direction as there was a auto- taxi strike in the city. I had to catch 2 buses to get to the home where we stayed. Neeraj was staying back to stand guard to the cycles and try and upload something to the internet. Uploading did not happen as there was not network over there.

Finally I got back with the wallet at about 9 30. A lot of thanks Joseph uncle and Laly aunty. I did not know where Neeraj and the cycles where, so got down at some other stop and walked about 2 km on the way back.

We quickly refreshed and set out for rest of the journey.  Although we were expecting uphill slopes, surprisingly there were a number of long down hill slopes, which made us wonder whether we were actually climbing or descending. The cycles are awesome stuff. The make the hills look silly. Seriously, at the end of the day we were thinking “did we actually climb all this distance”. Because more that the climbs what we remember are those fast descents.

Once we got to Kulathupuzha , under a bridge in front of the Kulathupuzha Temple, we found immensely huge fishes. You  wouldn’t believe me if I tell you that  some of them were as big as a person. According to legend, these fishes turn up at this place due to lord Aiyappan’s presence. These fishes are not just huge, they are very colorful as well. They look like 50 times bigger than the largest carp that you ever seen.

At about 5 pm, we got to the Dam site where we were supposed to stay for the night. The Inspection Bungalow of KSEB that we were supposed to stay is just below the Dam. So essentially we stayed right next to the Dam. :P  That’s about it. We had seen amazingly awesome sceneries on the way. The experience is completely different when you are on cycle as compared to some other vehicle.
